Goofy Thing You Come Across On Baseball-Reference.com

I love how they show a guys full name on Baseball-Reference.com, as in: Richmond Lockwood Sexson. Lockwood? Ha. They also often have a player's nickname in parenthesis.

How about: Todd Helton (The Toddfather).

The Toddfather?? WTF? You ever hear someone call him "The Toddfather?" Me neither.

  1. You can also learn things like Coco Crisp's real name is Covelli Loyce Crisp. Or that Chuckie Carr's Baseball reference page is not sponsored and that the proprietors of Chuckie Hacks were too cheap to spend $5 to sponsor the page.

  2. Excellent. Since I own the 'Toddfather' in the PTP league I play in for the NL 2009 season, I will now be humming the theme to the 'Godfather' everytime he is up to bat.

I also learned from Baseball Reference.com that Pablo Sandoval, AKA 'Kung Fu Panda' is also known as 'The Round Mound of Pound'. Who knew? Oh, and that Jayson Werth's full name is Jayson Richard Gowan Werth.

Conversely, Joe Mauer does not have a listed nickname, despite his slightly (and only slightly) blasphemous nicknames of 'Baby Jesus' and 'Jesus Christ Superstar' commonly used in the Twin Cities.
