Let Me Clear My Throat

.
Disturbing news out of Madison.
.
No, not "Badgers lost another goddamn game by getting steamrolled in the second half" disturbing. But disturbing.
.
The UW is condemning Brother's in order to make way for a music performance hall.
.
For a time, Brother's was a go-to spot for me in college. I contend that Brother's was a music performance hall, of sorts. They would play music, and after enough Swamp Waters I would perform by getting up on a booth and dancing the night away, white drunk boy style.
.
I will also always remember Brother's as the place where I showed a Madison cop my fake ID while inside the bar (it was actually Emmett's real ID, since he's an old bastard) - she believed it. Thanks Emmett.
.
I also remember going over to the ghetto Burger King across the street and ordering a Gilbert Burger every time, even when the Gilbert Burger was no longer available. Memories.
.
Too bad about Brother's, though I haven't been there in years. I'm sure they'll survive in their new location with their $2.1 million.

  1. Not to mention the old CD player that when on random shuffle would have a long dramatic pause between songs. This is good to know if you ever challenge someone to do the running man (also drunk white boy style) for 10 minutes without stopping. Now that was good times!

  2. Yes, many memories. Brothers was the place to be in the late 90's. Now it appears to be a shithole. Seeing numerous people fall down the stairs was entertaining. Having Dudy's ID taken after I showed it to the bouncer immediately after Dudy showed it to the bouncer. The Let Me Clear my Throat-Back Dat Azz Up- Wanna Be a Baller 10 minutes that they played every night. The only bar that consistently played Gimme Dat Nutt. All sorts of good times. Most of them I can't remember.

  3. I remember getting tossed from Brothers circa 1996 for getting into a 'fight' (shoving match) with some Ohio State d-bag. I then proceeded to head over to that BK, rent 2 Whoppers, and then returned them to my buddy's apartment hallway floor about 30 minutes later. Good times.

  4. That BK was awesome. I think I picked up my GilbertBurger poster there. The BK was pretty disgusting, but tasty. Getting back to Brothers, I believe I was dragged out of there on my 21st birthday. The night went downhill once Stryker introduced his $5 jug of vodka to the nights happenings.

  5. I totally forgot you had my fake. Did you steal it from me? Fitz-Hume would never compromise the integrity of our fine nation.

  6. I also had your college ID card as a second form of ID. That's what clinched it for the Madison cop, I think.

  7. Wow, why don't I remember any of this? Whatever. I do remember putting on the wobbly-boots at the Madison Brothers a few times. Great times.
